Telford Plaza is one of the large shopping malls in Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong, located below the MTR headquarters building, Hang Seng Centre, and Telford Gardens. The developers were Telford Development Limited (responsible for Phase 1), a joint venture between the former MTR Corporation (now the MTR Corporation), Hopewell Holdings, and Hang Lung Properties, and New World Development (responsible for Phase 2). It was the first shopping mall developed by the MTR Corporation. Telford Plaza is currently managed by the MTR Corporation. From 1980 to 1997, it was called Telford Shopping Centre; after 1997, it was called Telford Plaza, and it was divided into Phase 1 and Phase 2. Phase 1 opened in 1980, and Phase 2 opened on December 6, 1997. At that time, Kowloon Bay was still an industrial and commercial area, and the industrial and commercial areas from Kwun Tong to Kowloon Bay were mainly industrial buildings. Therefore, Telford Plaza was arguably the only large shopping mall in Kwun Tong District, and even in East Kowloon. In February 2020, the MTR Corporation acquired a 50% profit interest in Phase 2 of Telford Plaza from New World Development. A public transport interchange is located on the platform, connecting Regent Garden, Enterprise Plaza, and the East Kowloon area. Many shopping malls in Kowloon Bay (such as Grand Place) operate shuttle buses at this public transport interchange, resulting in high foot traffic at Telford Plaza day and night.
