MCL海怡戲院8月1日結業半年內第5間被黃竹坑THE SOUTHSIDE新戲院衝擊失客源？

麗新集團旗下寰亞洲立集團經營的MCL Cinema今日於其Facebook專頁公布，MCL海怡戲院租約期滿，將於8月1日起結業，是今年第5間結業的戲院。

MCL海怡戲院位於鴨脷洲海怡半島內的海怡東商場，於2016年開幕，設有3間迷你影院，總共約500個座位。當年以全港首間「無機房」戲院為賣點，聲稱該系統設計可以節省空間及人手。

在此之前，南區區內唯一的戲院為MCL數碼港，但地點較為不便，故此該區居民不少會跨區到到中環、銅鑼灣等地看電影，MCL海怡戲院的開幕，為南區影迷提供了不少便利。惟時移世易，隨著近期新開幕、位於港鐵黃竹坑站上蓋的大型商場THE SOUTHSIDE內的英皇戲院Plus+出現，為MCL海怡戲院的客源帶來衝擊。有南區居民更表示，設備較新、交通較方便的英皇戲院Plus+開業後，早已預料MCL海怡戲院會隨之而結業。
