The property market turnover fell, and the real estate agency industry also shrank. According to the latest figures released by the Estate Agents Authority, as of November 30, the number of licensed agents in Hong Kong was approximately 41,239, a decrease of 250 or 0.6% from October, and a 15-month low. If compared with the high of 42,408 at the end of February this year, it has dropped by 1,169 or 2.7% in just 9 months. However, competition in the industry is still fierce. As for the salesperson's license (S plate/fine plate) reflecting frontline agents, as of November, there were 22,380, a month-on-month decrease of 157 or 0.7%. The number of real estate agency (individual) licenses (E card/big card) recorded 18,859 in November, a month-on-month decrease of 93 or 0.49%.

The latest statement of business details reflecting the number of branches was 7,167, a decrease of 12 or 0.17% from November.

In fact, the property market has fallen in recent months, and many agency banks have indicated that they will reduce their scale. At the beginning of the year, Centaline had about 6,000 employees. In the first 10 months, it lost 500 employees, and another 300 employees will be reduced before the end of the year. Branches have the opportunity to reduce more than 200 branches from the current nearly 470 branches.

As for Midland, about 400 people were lost naturally during the year, and there are still about 4,800 employees. In addition, the leases of 30 branches will expire in the short term, and the leases of these branches are not expected to be renewed.
