The land is about 559,700 square feet, and it is expected to provide about 3,100 public and private units, involving a total floor area of about 1,711,500 square feet. It is worth noting that in August last year, Wheelock and Henderson applied for land sharing on a larger site adjacent to the site, involving 12,100 units, that is, the two sites can supply more than 15,000 units in total, which is quite large. The ratio of public and private units was seven to three, with public housing accounting for 10,654 units and private units accounting for about 4,566 units. ◆reporter Yan Lunle

Hong Kong's housing and land are in short supply. To increase supply, the government has launched a pilot land sharing scheme, inviting developers to seek joint development with the government. It also hopes to "unbundle" many parcels of land in the New Territories. According to the information, the application site is located in the south of Sheshan Road, Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, covering an area of about 560,000 square feet and held by Wheelock Properties. The site is currently zoned "Agriculture" as a private lot and adjoining government land. The application involves 3,100 units, including 2,170 public housing/first-home units (the specific subsidized housing type will be determined by the Government), 930 private housing units and auxiliary facilities, with an estimated population of 8,680.

The Development Bureau pointed out that its Land Sharing Office will coordinate with relevant departments to facilitate and expedite the processing and review of applications.

The application documents show that the site of nearly 560,000 square feet this time includes 122,100 square feet of government land, and the total floor area of the project is about 1,711,500 square feet. The site is much larger than this application, covering a land area of 2,077,500 square feet, providing about 12,120 units and a total buildable floor area of 6,946,100 square feet.
